Press Release
May 7, 2008
The Water Department of the Town of Dunstable was one of 32 public water systems honored today in a State House ceremony. Dunstable won the Small System Security award, besting 1735 other Massachusetts public drinking water systems for emergency preparedness according to Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) Commissioner Laurie Burt.
Commissioner Burt awarded the Dunstable Water Department a MassDEP certificate for outstanding performance and conferred a citation from Governor Patrick in recognition of the Department´s dedicated service.
State representative Bob Hargraves provided a House citation recognizing Dunstable´s accomplishment. "In these uncertain times, supply security is every bit as important as water purity. MassDEP´s award means that Dunstable offers one of the Commonwealth´s more secure water supplies. Townspeople ought to feel very good about that," he said.
The Massachusetts Water Works Association organized the event to coincide with National Drinking Water Week (May 4–10, 2008).
