Bringing home the bacon to the 1st Middlesex

How disappointing to read the letter from Chris Mills criticizing our state representative, Bob Hargraves, for not "bringing home the bacon" for our local schools. Surely Mr. Mills has followed school matters long enough to know state aid depends upon a formula administered by the Massachusetts Department of Education. It does not result from backroom dealing in smoke-filled chambers.
Thank goodness it does not. Imagine the corruption and chaos that would ensue if legislators were able to strong-arm and micromanage Mass DOE and other state agencies to do their will!
Given his Groton-Dunstable School Committee background, it is difficult to believe Mr. Mills' misstatement could be naive rather than willful.
Here's hoping your readers will join me in voting for Bob Hargraves on Nov. 4.
